Vincennes Townships drone program continues to grow. The drone has seen an increase in requests by several agencies since the department brought it online in mid-2018 after completing training with all on-duty members. Operators have been requested for drone deployment to locate individuals most recently it was requested in a mutual and run for a subject on top of his vehicle in flood waters. It has also been requested by one of our mutual aid departments to assist in a fire investigation allowing investigators to explore areas inaccessible due to debris prior to bringing in heavy equipent to sift through the debris. In addition to the drones conventional camera, it has a FLIR (forward-looking infrared) camera that allows operators to see thermal signatures in day-time or night-time operations.
