Officer Training
Executive Leadership Course
Chief Smith, Deputy Chief King, and several of the department’s line officers have been attending a new program launched by the State through the Indiana Department of Homeland Security. Several of our officers have been part of the beta testing of this program.
The State of Indiana has been beta testing an Executive Leadership Program that gives new line officers, executive officers, and future officers the tools to succeed. This program looks at budgeting, working within the Gateway (Indiana budget website), helping members deal with mental health issues, safety (OSHA), recruitment and retention, and many other topics. This program was designed for all Public Safety agencies, and if you are part of the public safety network (acadis), you can search for upcoming training to see if you qualify. There are currently 5 blocks. Blocks 100-400 are up and running and have been presented and refined; as well, there is currently a group that includes several Vincennes Township officers waiting to complete block 500 when launched for the beta class.
